Team Manager - Duty & Assessment
Are you an experienced social worker with strong leadership skills looking for your next challenge? We have an exciting opportunity for a Team Leader to join the Duty and Assessment Team at Halton Borough Council.
About the Role:
As a Children's Team Manager, you will assist in the effective delivery of Social Services, withing your defined area of service. The Team Manager will be responsible for supervising, supporting and advising a team of Social Workers, whilst contributing to the management, delivery and operation of a variety of measurable, high quality, and cost effective services, to meet individual needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Managing the prioritisation and allocation of work within the team of Social Workers, identifying resource shortages and contributing to the planning and development of targeted services, delivered within policy and legal obligations.
- Reporting to the Principal Manager, taking accountability for all elements of individual cases within the team's workload, in accordance with policy and procedures including staff wellbeing, care and development.
- Provide supervision, coaching, and support to social workers, fostering their professional development.
- Ensuring the Health and Safety of all staff and individuals, in accordance with the Health and Safety at Work Act.
- Manage performance and workload distribution effectively, ensuring timely responses to referrals.
- Contribute to service improvements, policy development, and best practice initiatives.
- Ensure adherence to legislation, policies, and procedures within the team.
About You:
- Qualified Social Worker with Social Work England registration.
- Significant experience in children's social work, particularly in duty and assessment or frontline services.
- Proven leadership skills with experience managing teams within a social care setting.
- Strong knowledge of legislation, safeguarding practices, and assessment frameworks.
- Excellent communication, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a high standard of work.
- As this role involves regular travel across the borough and sometimes further afield, a driving license and access to a vehicle are essential requirements.
