Recruitment is a people business and relationship building is at the forefront of our industry. That's why we thought it important to introduce you to the faces of Connect2Halton! #FacesofConnect2Halton
Today, we speak to Bethany, one of our Customer Service & Resourcing Assistants…
Tell us about your working background
I have a diverse working background in support work, call centres, and as an ESL teacher. In support roles, I have assisted individuals in community centres and residential facilities, providing daily living assistance and emotional support. In call centres, I worked as a customer service representative, handling inquiries, resolving issues, and providing technical support. As an ESL teacher, I taught English to non-native speakers, developing lesson plans, and helping students improve their language skills. My experience has equipped me with strong communication, problem-solving, and teaching abilities, allowing me to effectively support and assist individuals in various capacities.
What are you most looking forward to about your new role?
I am excited about working in the recruitment industry because it offers the opportunity to connect talented individuals with their ideal job roles, which is incredibly rewarding. I am eager to grow and learn in this field, as it will allow me to develop a deep understanding of various industries and the unique skills required for different positions. The dynamic and fast-paced nature of recruitment appeals to me, as it involves continuous learning, adapting to new trends, and honing interpersonal skills. I look forward to helping the council build strong teams and supporting candidates in achieving their career goals, making a meaningful impact on both sides.
What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
In my spare time, I enjoy engaging in creative activities, traveling, and helping in the local community. Being creative allows me to express myself through various forms of art and projects, providing a sense of fulfilment and relaxation. Traveling is a passion of mine because it offers the chance to explore new places, experience different cultures, and gain fresh perspectives. Additionally, I find great satisfaction in volunteering and supporting local community initiatives, as it enables me to give back and make a positive impact on the lives of others.
Any top tips for jobseekers?
Create a Personal "Brag Book". Fill a scrapbook or digital folder with your proudest achievements, thank-you notes, certificates, and photos from work events. Not only is this a great confidence booster, but it also gives you a tangible reminder of your successes to bring up during interviews!
