Halton boasts three railway stations which provide fast and frequent services across the UK. Commuters can reach Liverpool in 20 minutes, Manchester in 40 minutes, and London in less than 2 hours, with regular connections to Birmingham, Chester, Crewe, and North Wales.
Halton’s proximity to both Manchester International Airport and Liverpool John Lennon Airport—one of Europe’s fastest-growing regional airports—enhances its connectivity. Additionally, ferries to Ireland and the Isle of Man are easily accessible.
The history of Halton is rich and interwoven, with links between Widnes and Runcorn dating back 900 years to the early 12th century. These two towns have long been connected, beginning with a ferry service across the river to pay taxes at Halton Castle.
